window glass install question

I have a 26 Coupe and need the side glass and rear to mount anyone ever used the Windshield/Back Glass Ribbon Sealer
instead of the rubber from the vendors??

I've used some, kinda like a rope of tar in a roll, on a '79 Pinto windshield. It works.

It shows, you really need to use the U channel to look right.

That is what it looks like.

Our '26 coupe is not there yet. We have cut new wood for the missing and damaged wood pieces around the side windows and rear windshield, primed them but don't have the glass yet. Have not decided whether we are using black silicone, weather strip, or some other sealant yet, or what we are supposed to use. The old stuff we removed looks like black caulk.

Channel was not descriptive, it is a U shaped rubber strip, goes all the way around the glass before you install it. The glass is constrained by the steel body on the outside, the wood frame on the sides, and the interior metal moulding on the inside. The U strip extends about 1/16 - 1/8 inch above the body and interior moulding and shows, provides a nice finished look. There is no other sealer or calking. Everything is held in place by the interior trim screws. The vendors sell the U strip, if not in the model T catalog check the model A catalog. Snyders has it, T-19003-Q.

Ok the channel is ok looks good but wont stop water unless some other sealant , i have the channel rubber and it does not
stop water by itself
