Cowl lacing 26/27
Radiator shell turned out pretty nice. Cowl lacing looks self explanatory except for the 2 at the bottom. Bottom looks easy as the back is easy to get to so the rivet can be split. The next one up seems like a rigid nail. What is the fix for that one?

Re: Cowl lacing
Is there a hook like the model A has that clips over this?

No hook like an A. Been a while, but recall slipping in a piece of busted hack saw blade or something as the backing bar to force the split tangs of the rivet to seat on the backside. Those lower holes are a bear, the others are OK, if you have the gas tank out!
Think I used an ice pick to make the hole a bit bigger and spread the tangs just so, before insertion, that helped them spread open. Have Fun!

I found some earlier posts on this. You replied then. My fuel tank is out. A couple fellows said they used pop rivets

That probably was a job that the Ford line guys did before the body parts all came together so you could have nothing in the way to put the rivets through the lacing.

John
I agree
Even with the dashboard and fuel tank out it’s a bear. I am glad I started to tackle this before I mounted the fuel tank and dash. I never gave it a thought, usually I’m the one doing things 3 or 4 times to get it done.
