Mac's - Eckler's Is At It Again
Mac's - Eckler's is at it again on EBAY, dumping page after page of cataloged parts, littering up the site. I wish there was a way to convince EBAT to create a separate venue for vendors who don't sell ANY used original parts.

Create a saved search for "model t ford -fits -fit's". Then in advanced mode, scroll down to exclude the following sellers:
macs-auto-parts,,,,johnnylawmotors,,ecklersautomotive,,whiteracingproductsllc_nos,collectorsautosupplyinc

Re: Mac's - Eckler's Is At It Again
It is very easy to avoid their stuff, toys etc with the proper search criteria using the ADVANCED search feature.ModelTWoods wrote: ↑Wed Mar 17, 2021 11:21 amMac's - Eckler's is at it again on EBAY, dumping page after page of cataloged parts, littering up the site. Keyword options restrict word order etc. (they are case insensitive) MODEL T exact words., exact order will get any title containing MODEL T
Category ebay motors to avoid other categories like toys etc c that have Model T models
Condition used blocks new parts like Mac's and any other sell's
Listings searches when the item was posted and when
There are other options too : For example you might want to limit by value (your budget) 0-$500 for example
Best to play with the options to see how to use them. You can even save searches you like.
eBay provides the way to eliminate unwanted items
The past is a great place and I don't want to erase it or to regret it, but I don't want to be its prisoner either.

Start a fresh saved list or modify the one you have. Open eBay, do a search of "ford model t -fits" and search. When that page opens, on the left side go down to item location and click US or North America, the list will refresh.
This can be done using your saved list too;
Then go back up to "Condition" under that list you will see "see all" that will open a new window (make sure to click all the boxes of new used etc that you want to save and see). In that window go down and click on "seller". Click on "show only items from", click on the box next to where you enter the names and click on "Exclude". Type in the names followed by comma and space. At the bottom of the box click "Apply". Close that window. (You can continue to add names as you find them and your saved list will update)
If you want to see more then 50 items per page, go to the bottom of the list and click on 200, that will reload the page to that number. Go back to the top, next to the number of items click on "Save Search", a dialog box will open asking if you want notification ever time a new listing is posted, I click no. (other wise my email gets overwhelmed with postings) If you are just modifying the list, click on "Saved search", then click again to save updates, repeat if you want to get notifications.
If you want to bookmark the new page do it now and replace the old one, or open the page from "My Ebay" "Saved Searches"

Mark, as indicated in a post above, "-fit's" should probably also be included for the many people who think that an "s" doesn't really count unless it is preceded by an apostrophe. (Oop's, should have said "apo'strophe.")

Re: Mac's - Eckler's Is At It Again
I have been using "fits" for years and pulls all the stuff like floor mats etc out of the search with no problem. I don't think the system even sees the '. The bots don't even see spaces sometimes also. I do a search of "1920 s" and it pulls stuff that is 1920s or 1920's just the same. I have read reports of feedback left where the bots read two words that have the last two letter of the first word and first two letters of the second word (for example or can be more letters) and sees a dirty word, like sh#t and rejects the feedback because they don't see spaces.

Re: Mac's - Eckler's Is At It Again
I've recently acquired quite a few items from Macs on the Ebay site:
Fun Projects two piece dash shield
Fun Projects early pedal trim plates
Very nice brass hubcaps from Vintique
Early Brake rod brackets
All the items I got were marked down/clearance way lower in price from other vendor prices.

I have too, but generally not the parts I am looking for. They are a source which I sometimes use myself.
this will work too; macs-auto-parts, johnnylawmotors, ecklersautomotive, whiteracingproductsllc_nos, collectorsautosupplyinc etc

Re: Mac's - Eckler's Is At It Again
Thanks to everyone who offered suggestions. I used fordmodelt-fits for many years. Then, I changed to fordmodeltvintagecartruckparts, which seemed to work better. I followed the directions that many of you gave and added macs, johnny law, ecklers, white racing, and collectors, but noticed others that I wanted to exclude, so I went back in the same way that I had done, following instructions and added six more names. When I checked, it had excluded the last six names, but the first five that I entered came back. I guess I'll have to go back a third time and enter all eleven vendors to wipe them all out.Mark Gregush wrote: ↑Wed Mar 17, 2021 12:44 pmStart a fresh saved list or modify the one you have. Most websites provide for a user to "unsubscribe" or "regulate" the frequency of such notifications. The "unsubscribe" option is usually at the bottom of the emails. Click on it to be directed to their website and see what options you have. May also be available under your account with them if you have one.

Re: Mac's - Eckler's Is At It Again
Am I missing something? Why are we turning on our own. Any business that caters to Model T people should be welcomed and encouraged. Whatever venue he uses to reach the most people and create the most exposure for his product is his choice for his business. It is hard to start and maintain a business, especially one as specialized as Model T parts. The more businesses the better, for it gives us a wider choice and creates competition, which increases quality and lowers prices. Let’s support our Model T vendors. The last thing we need to do is badmouth them and drive them out of business. Jim Patrick

Re: Mac's - Eckler's Is At It Again
That is a good point Jim. I'm not turning on them. I had excellent delivery on some V-8 parts from them even though I had heard of disappointing results on T parts from some. They were the only ones who offered the parts I needed.
It seemed to me that the Model T business was a small part of their overall sales and perhaps their staff is not as knowledgeable as some vendors who specialize in T parts. That could explain some problems folks had.
The other vendors I use have spoiled me with their outstanding service.
It is amusing as to what irritates us sometimes isn't it?

When did I do that?
