What’s the story?? Why do they look like they’re thrown in a pile?

Most of them appear to be model A blocks. And several of them look like someone was trying to rebuild them? Or maybe trying to make them look like they were good enough to rebuild?

Toughest thing to do is to scrap antique auto parts. I had to scrap a pickup load from my last parts buy. if they have no value, they are just metal. The tears stop after a while.
