Rear tail Light wire routing

Post by Mopar_man » Tue Aug 17, 2021 12:41 pm

So I looked up how the rear tail light on my 26/7 touring is supposed to go. I have the stock tail light with the license plate bracket. I'm using this kit and want to be sure I've got it right. Looking at the diagrams I can't see all. Looks like the 2 of grommets with wire (ties) go on either side of the battery box. and the spring with the three hole insulator gets the light wire threaded through and the spring attached to the rear of the frame to keep tension on the wire.

So where does the 3rd grommet go?

Nothing else holds up the wire from the wiring harness to the battery box?

That kit also fits the earlier cars, one of the eyelets are used on the rear rim carrier, to lace the tail lamp wire to the std. lamp on the carrier.

Thanks! That makes sense. So I guess I could just use it to hold the wire in another spot along the frame.

One of them takes the place of a cotter pin in the rear spring u-bolt. Left rear nut.

There should be a woven loom tube that the battery cable goes thru from the starter switch to the firewall, the tail light wire goes thru it also, then the eyelets and spring clip as others have addressed.

The spring on the three hole fibre piece is hooked through one of the spit pin loops on the rear spring clamping bars. Its role is to keep tension on the wire so it does not flap about.

I bought a set from Langs, and the rubber grommets only lasted a year or two. The quality of those grommets needs to improve!

Thanks for all the input. I think I've got it now. Just trying to be original where I can. :D
