Found some Babbitt Washers and a neat water pump

Post by Mopar_man » Thu Aug 26, 2021 9:36 pm

So I was digging around in some boxes of parts that came with my car. Found something that gives me hope.

Two babbitt washers and other real axel parts. Makes me think that bronze washers were put in place. But I have trust issues and I'm going to pull the rear apart and look for myself.

Then I came across this water pump.

Very cool! "Trust but verify", its always good to verify things yourself.

My dad had a tall stack of NOS babbitt thrust washers sitting on the shelf for many years.

He tossed them about ten years ago.

Kool Hastings history, there, Robert! I believe they are still in business. I’ve had other Hastings pumps but haven’t seen a 26-7 style myself. Thanks!

Neat wall hangers. I wonder if the washers will pass the drop test.
I test everyone I get for personal amusement. Maybe 1 in 50 pass. Then go in the trash.
