Maybe it’s a custom setup for a stationary engine? Didn’t think this was a production Ford pan but I don’t know that much about the very early Ford engines. Maybe someone on the forum knows.

I think a mechanic/blacksmith reworked that pan for use in a boat or stationary application.

Many years ago we had a member in San Diego who had a brass T with a RAJO head and a 3 speed transmission (I think an early V8) and a Ruckstell. From the outside his car looked like a standard T, however, he could go up hills about 45 and pass everyone on tours. Then he broke down on the way back and most people just passed him and laughed. I stopped to help him get a truck and trailer to tow it home. Turned out he had sheared all the bolts around the ring gear in the rear axle! At another time he was on a grand opening tour of the bridge from San Diego to Coronado carrying Pete Wilson who was either mayor of San Diego or governor of California. Pete went on from mayor to governor. I'm not sure his office at the time, however, the same thing happened in the middle of the bridge. Quite embarrasing! :lol: Anyway, I think that pan might have been made for a similar application.

Quite interesting.
My guesses
1. Pressure oiled
2. A crank. The early pans can accommodate the “stroker crank “ with minimal to no “dimples”
3. Dry clutch as Henry said
Too bad that the bell housing isn’t included

I think it was part of the HIMCO conversion for Model Ts with a standard transmission or a boat conversion.

HIMICO made their own pan, and its clear the one in the eBay photo isn't for car use, no wishbone setup. So stationary use would be my guess.
