Ignition switch

Post by Bill Anziani » Wed Jan 09, 2019 10:33 pm

I had the the switch on my 24 rebuilt by Ben Martin. What a wonderful job! My question is should the lettering on the switch ( BATT MAG DIM) be painted white, or left black. Thanks in advance

I believe the lettering was white when when the switch was new.

Painted white insert lettering on this early '19 version from print adv. Early switch had various styles of heavy cast plated handles

I have several never restored originals that clearly show white lettering. How I restored mine was I used white Testor's model paint, and used a very fine small brush. I could only do a few letters on each side of the switch each day until it was done. I then rubbed the area with fine rubbing compound until all that remained was the letters themselves. It's been done ten years now, and still looks very good.
