Clutch Spring

Can the clutch spring be replaced by taking the hog head off and dropping the drive shaft.

Yes, but anybody I know who has done it says never again. If you want to try it see the Service Manual.

Thee is also a procedure in tinkerin' Ted Ashman's books.
