26-27 Tudor window crank repair

Post by NY John T » Mon Jan 03, 2022 7:22 pm

Hi all,
Has anybody tried to repair the broken window crank shaft on the 26-27 Tudor? I need to fix driver's side rear crank and passenger side front crank. I got a repair kit from Langs and I've been looking on line and haven't found anything on how to redo it. Thanks,
John

Have you looked at Tony Cimorelli picture albums? As he fixed/restored things he took lots of pictures.

Thanks. They don't look like the same regulators. I took one apart and will post photos of the progress. I think I figured it out.

I think these are the same as the front door of the opposite side. There are some Model A regulators that work and may even be an exact match. Talk to the technical person at Snyders and they should be able to tell you which one will work. If I remember correctly, they were $40.

Are your window regulators the same that are pictured in Lang’s catalog and online? They are supposed to fit the 26-27 Tudor. They may be replacement style and might no be exactly what you have but they are supposed to fit the steel framed doors.

Adam,
Is the wheel on the end of the arm a rolling wheel, or is it just stationary? Mine doesn't move, and I'm wondering if it's frozen. Do you sell the regulator, or is it from one of the vendors?
Thanks,
John

The 'wheel' is riveted to the arm and does not rotate. jb

Thanks for letting me know about the wheel. Funny, it seems like it should rotate for better movement. Glad I didn't try to crank on it with vice grips to get it to move!

John: I think that's odd too. I asked Lang's and they said the roller is fixed to the arm, not a roller really. I wonder if anyone ever modified one to roll and if so, how that worked out. jb
