A freind just picked up a Chicago Aux. trans is the pocket (center of main shaft beraing ) like a Warford made out of unobtainium or is it a standard type bearing that is available? Thanks.

Craig, I was up to my elbows in them a couple years ago here. ( thanks mike !). There are at least two different types, one appears to be pretty common bearings and the other was a real wild style, something prehistoric looking. They WERE NOT interchangeable, and I had enough of the good modern looking ones to complete my mission. I forget now if the cases were interchangeable. Hope this helps a little.

I have 2 Chicago transmissions and the cases are different. The input shaft bearing bore is larger on one. Both use the same bearing in the center. Bearings were still available last fall, and I think that bearing is the same as the cluster gear bearings. Dan

Side request - does anyone happen to have a spare input shaft for a Chicago? I really like the transmission but the square part of the shaft the goes into the 4th main is beat up giving excess lash in the driveline.
