SLIME TIRE LEAK REPAIR
Hi Everybody, I'm in a bit of an "emergency" situation where I need to repair a leak in one of my tires. Obviously the proper way is to patch/replace the tube but I'm a little short on time. Has anyone used SLIME to stop leaking inner tubes? Thanks in advance for your responses.

Re: SLIME TIRE LEAK REPAIR
Ive had some success with Slime. I think it works best in tubeless tires. I believe there may be 2 versions of the product, with one being for tube type tires, such as tractors. Tractor supply would likely stock both versions. If you have balance beads in your tire, the Slime or any similar product might cause problems with wheel balance.

Re: SLIME TIRE LEAK REPAIR
Slime has been known to inhibit tire patches from gripping properly. I believe that is why there are said to be two types: Tubes and Tubeless. I have not had to make any repair attempts so I am NOT able to speak from experience.

Re: SLIME TIRE LEAK REPAIR
Please let it be known by all: SLIME "2-IN ONE" when used as a replacement for the proper repair of a leaking clincher tire with an inner tube worked unsatisfactorily for me. My I endorse the old saying "do it right or don't do it".

I would not use slime or any similar product if you intend later to repair the tube.

Re: SLIME TIRE LEAK REPAIR
Slime comes in four formulations. RED & BLACK for Tube type tires and neither is recommended for tube or tubeless tires traveling over 45mph

Re: SLIME TIRE LEAK REPAIR
My experience driving with a clincher tire with a flat was not good. The tire left the rim and rolled about 1/2 a mile with me running after it. I had probably hit a pothole and dislodged a pinched tube, a small cut under high pressure ripped the tube wide open causing a suddon loss of pressure. Sounded like a gunshot. Looked in the rear view mirrior and saw my tire rolling away. Moral of the story is high pressure tires need good sound tubes, installed, repaired, and maintained properly. I have never used slime, dont plan to. Short cuts and shoddy work does not pay with clincher tires.
