Sold my 1926 Fordor restoration project.

Well, I finally sold my all original (except for the red paint) 1926 Fordor Model T restoration project to a Model T guy for $8,500.00. He lives just 2 hours away and just drove off with it on a trailer. He was very happy with it and is anxious to get started on it. He restored a Model T 40 years ago, drove it awhile and sold it and wanted to get back into the hobby. It is especially great, because he wants to keep it all original and basically just wants to get it running so he can drive it. Even though the tires that are on it have a lot of good tread left, I gave him a set of five brand new Goodyear tires, tubes and flaps I bought for it, as well as a new set of wiring harnesses and gaskets that will help to get him started. I bought it in 2004 intending to restore it, so it is painful to see it go, but knowing it is going to a good home helps. Jim Patrick

As long as both of you are happy that is all that counts. As we all know there is no financial gain in owning a Model T. The cost of parts and huge amounts of labor in hours to get one into shape whether to show or just to drive always creates a negative balance in the check book. The reward is learning all the peculiarities of the Model T, how to make it run and the great fun driving a piece of history.

Jim .... Today may be a sad day, after your owning the Fordor all these years, sheltering, maintaining, and improving..... was a life's benefit of enjoyment . We will all go through the same life experience with our Model T's. Bob J.

Well said and how true. I’m very sad to see her go and that I was unable to work on her as I had planned, but I am very happy that I had a part in preserving her and keeping her safe from the weather for the last 18 years in a climate controlled garage and that the new owner is happy and that the T has found a great new home and that it will be preserved, driven and enjoyed as it was meant to be. At least it will be safe from the rat rodders and Boyd Coddington types for the next several years and remain a true Model T. Jim Patrick

PS. I also gave him a new hard copy of Bruce McCalley’s Model T Encyclopedia, the Model T Ford Service Manual and the Ford Model T Essentials Bulletins to help him get it right.

Yes. We’ll stay in touch. He’s lucky. Even his wife loves his new toy. I was surprised by my wife. Even though she urged me to sell it, she took several pictures of the Fordor on the trailer and had a sad look as it headed off to its’ new home. She admitted she was sorry to see it go and that she would miss it. Imagine that! Jim Patrick

2 hours...what direction?

My 39 y/o son just carted off my '15 Roadster from NJ to his place on the Lutz/Land O Lakes border and has been working through it with enthusiasm, but is just far enough to be too far from Suncoast club for now and just far enough from Fun T's group as he's still in the outback!
