Finished the gas tank with the black walnut saddles, trimmed in stainless steel, and double bead welt. The black speckles are guide coat for the finish sanding, finds imperfections.

Beautiful work!!!
I have a dumb question (and sorry if it's already been asked), what are the marbles in the gas gauge for? I've never seen that before, and wondering if they're like those thermometers that float at various levels or ?? It seems like it would impede the fuel from getting into the level tube...

Those are hollow aluminum balls which float to tell you at a clance how much fuel you have. Commonly referred to as a boilers gauge. The fuel is feed from the bottom.
There are no stupid questions except for the one you did not ask.
All the Best,
Hank
