26_27 running board supports

Post by Dennis_Brown » Fri Jul 22, 2022 10:35 pm

Replaced a running board supports I had removed to. Haul the T on a small trailer 50 years ago. I had 2 supports and noticed a difference in them. At the end under the running board one of them has 2 holes to attach the board to. The other one has the same 2 holes to attach the board but it has a 3rd hole about an inch from the outer hole. The support that was never removed has the 3 holes and the holes are on both ends of the support.
Was there a difference between 26 and 27? I do not believe these were ever changed as the 3 hole type were on the frame and body when I got it and. It had sat in a pasture for many years,
If needed I will try to post a picture but I am having a problem loading it from a tablet and will have to load the pictures into the desktop to do it. I am not one of those computer genius's.

The three hole ones accommodate wider 26-7 running boards. Why they have the third hole to fit the narrow boards I cannot understand.

When the 26 cars were made the 3 hole brackets replaced the 2 hole that were no longer made. To have replacement brackets for the 2 hole you would just cut off the outer hole of the 3 hole
