WOSP STARTER OIL LEAK CORRECTION

Post by Nunsio1 » Sun Jul 31, 2022 2:19 pm

I purchased a WOSP starter from Snyders, an oil leak at starter was noticed. Contacted Joe at Snyders.. a fresh starter at my door in 48 hrs. Replacement starter leaked also, contacted Joe, he in turn contacted WOSP. They provided info how to index the case on the 3 surfaces, remove the 2 Allen head bolts and remove the aluminum block on body of the starter. After multiple attempts with a gasket and RTV, the correction is just RTV on inside of aluminum flange block, also RTV under the heads of the Allen bolts and a light bead of RTV on the 90 deg joint at block and starter nose. This procedure sealed the oil side of starter with success.

sounds like to me they should correct that when they put them together instead of the customer have to do it. I understand if it wasn't brought to there attention before, but now it is. looks like a really nice starter.
