new Blockley tyres

I had a disaster when a front tyre burst, but with no other damage. I had been using very old Dunlop Cord tyres because I liked the vintage tread. My new Blockleys came within two days and I am very impressed with them.
I have had problems with me running under inflated tyres on newly paints rims. Close inspection of the very old Dunlops showed I should never have been using them.
I searched for tips on changing and found from AUS. advice to use a clamp to force the tyre into the rim by the valve and then install both beads at once with lubricant. Five tyres changed with no pinching of tubes.

They look nice and period - would have been happier if Blockley was a bit smaller. I can now tour father away without worries!

I've just installed a couple of 30 x 3.5" Blockleys. They look well made, so will see over time if the extra expense was worth it. Very easy to order and arrived faster than most things from overseas. I found they went on the rims more easily than my previous kind of tyre. The most difficult aspect I find in changing tyres is the flaps, and I know a lot of people don't use them, but I've never had a tube failure from pinching.

The last time I checked, Blockleys were actually a few cents less than Wards Riversides. Of course, the shipping from Britain to Kansas was a LOT more than California to Kansas. I will wait a couple more paydays before I buy some Blockleys.
