split Kevlar lining
Looking for opinions on splitting and leaving a half inch at the bottom of transmission band linings from folks that use this method. I admit it does make sense, I'm just wondering how it works out in the long haul. It would definitely pick up more oil I would think.

I think it's a good idea if done correctly, but I've never done it or driven a car set up that way.

You should try it and see if it works better. To me, losing the 1/2” center, where a rivet hole is located, and making the lining two pieces, two more rivet holes have to be drilled in the band.
That also means an additional rivet tang added, they can wear the drum surface. Ford one piece lining worked for millions of Fords

That does appear to be the area that burns the most if the bands are abused, so it must be the most important area for grasping the drum.
Non the less, an interesting experiment that has never been done or never reported anyway.
Perhaps there is a good reason for that fact!

It HAS been done, and it has reported on. One well known engine builder did it perhaps hundred(s) of times with reported great success. All documented within the pages of the FORUM. It was a well-known modification pitched during the time these things were made new.
