Elmer's auction by Mecom "1910" T

Post by ModelT46 » Mon Sep 12, 2022 4:54 pm

Lot S93 is listed as a 1910 Model T Ford. It its a roadster style body with a mother in law seat. I do not see any actual 1910 parts. It has a later chassis and what looks like a replacmen t reproduction body. Go take a look. Elmer had at one time a "1909" that had a later engine. At that time he would not ley me take a close look at the chassis.

That "1910" Model T is just a fantasy. Here's a link for those who are interested:

Darel, the 1924 Hupmobile with Minnesota Pioneer license plate 55 was owned and restored by Bob Hawkinson. Perhaps you remember it. It's a great car except for the fact that it appears to be the victim of poor storage so it needs some TLC. Bob would never had allowed that to happen under his ownership.

I would love to own this unrestored 1920 Dodge:

I beleive that this vehicle was built up from the odd older vehicle Elmer called a 1909. That vehicle had a buggy seat. AT that time, Elmer did not let me examine the vehicle. There was a rope in front of the cars. This was about 30 years ago.

One of the worse looking fake 1909 bodies I have ever seen. I can actually like ones that look sort of right. I always love to see Rich Eagle's 1909 in tour pictures! His has a perfect look, the stance, top, everything from twenty feet looks right. And there have been several others I have known over the years that I love to see on tours! They look great in photos, and going down the road. Even when I know the chassis is 1920s? I like the look and I like to see them.
This abomination looks like a Shriner's clown car on steroids!

My apologies to anyone I may have offended.

At twice the value of the parts, one of the few instances where the buyer almost certainly got duped.

Had to be a Lottery. Usually those folks go bankrupt quickly.
True statistic "Life after winning the lottery may not stay glamorous forever. Whether they win $500 million or $1 million, about 70 percent of lotto winners lose or spend all that money in five years or less."

If it were an Inheritance, you'd expect some brain matter inheritance too.

No bottom line assures waste. We have several powerful institutions in this country devoted to proving that, over and over again. For instance, we have about 535 Louis XIVs going full blast, spending billion$, 24/7/365, year in and year out. (They're always on vacation, but they never stop spending, and it never costs them a dime, so why would they ever stop? It's good to be king!)

I think in an auction setting, some bidders rely on their fellow bidders to determine worth. The unsuccessful bidder apparently thought it was worth $17,500, so the successful bidders was willing to go $100 more. Folks who buy in these situations are sometimes folks who worked hard all their life, saved for their golden years, and now want to enjoy themselves.

Goes to show what a Model T can bring at auction, and if it's painted hot re-sale red....sky's the limit!
