USPS Norwalk OH to Scherpenheuvel Belgium: Around the world in 80 days

Post by AndreFordT » Thu Sep 15, 2022 6:26 am

I just get the master coil I bought on 06/22/2022 on the clasified part of this forum.
It travelled to me passing by Australia and took about 80 days to get home.
Jule Vern wrote about his travel around the world in 80 days in the late 1800.

I hope it took some photos during the travel.

Again an other USPS and Bpost experience I will not forgret soon.

Feel good that you got it. Its all part of the Supply Chain issues.
USPS and most all Countries belong to the Universal Postal Union. What that means one countries postal system sends it to another postal system in the direction of the final destination. Just getting it out of the USA may take several weeks. I doubt it these hand-offs are managed by a single delivery system that considers incoming and outgoing packages to optimize deliveries using any sort of criteria.
If it made a stop in Australia that would explain the long travel time, since they have had COVID restrictions of receiving mail from other countries.
Other carries have their own network from here to there and don't rely on other companies to get it to except for the so called "last mile"
The past is a great place and I don't want to erase it or to regret it, but I don't want to be its prisoner either.

Bottom line is, the world is in a huge mess. And it seems like it's gonna be a long time before things get better.
