The Flatland T’s had a work day today. We got an original polo car running and driving for the first time in decades- probably the 1930’s. We also took turns driving the Staude Model T tractor. Fun day!

Any time that you can go to the Paulsen shop is a fun day! We are fortunate in the Flatland T club to have Chris and Gary Paulsen to share their T experience. It was fun to see the polo car come back to life. I also saw that Chris is an artist with applying JB weld!
While there, Gary kindly lent me his magnet charger. After I got home, I was able to charge the magnets for the engine from the 1911 touring that I'm restoring. Magnets that could barely hold a 2 lb weight can now easily hold a cast iron piston and pin.

So neat to see that old polo car out in the field again. You will need to make another one so you can have some matches. I think you better find yourself a better mallet, too.

What a great polo car! Do you have any history about it? Are those original worn golf course spikes on the Staude tractor? The wheels have the golf/turf hole pattern. Glenn

Dave-as luck would have it, Steve Bender our local chapter president has one. A real match is in the works! The broom was just the first thing Sam could find that would work for the picture.
Glenn- We got it a couple of years ago from Western Kansas from the grandson of the original builder. His grandfather used it for polo matches in Colorado Springs in the 1920's and early 30's.
Yes-the Staude was built for golf course use. It has a short wheelbase and spikes on the wheels.
