Kr Wilson model t oil pan jig

Post by 1937Ford » Thu Oct 20, 2022 12:00 am

I have just bought a kr Wilson model t oil pan jig have sand blasted the whole thing and getting the top milled but I’m missing the part that goes on the front of it and the bar that goes underneath if anyone has any pictures and measurements of them so I can remake them it would be super handy. Also wondering what the original colour of it would be so I can get it powder coated. Thanks

Check with Langs. They had castings for the front and rear alignment brackets at one time. The bar is just a piece of rectangular bar stock used to align the arm holes. someone probably has a sketch of that.

I bought mine in the same condition. It had been used as a welding bench and anvil. It takes a big mill to resurface the whole thing in one pass. Find an automotive machine shop that has a Storm Vulcan surfacing machine. They are called a block master or head master depending on configuration. All of the hardware for checking alignment can be fabricated using the dowel holes in the jig for reference points.

I would strongly suggest finding an industrial grinding shop and have your pan jig reground on a Blanchard type grinder or a large reciprocating surface grinder.
I have a blockmaster in my shop and I'm not sure that's the approach I would take. Actually, I don't think the blockmaster has enough capacity for a pan jig now that I think about it. Good luck with your project.
