Model T top bow clamp question

Post by John kuehn » Wed Oct 26, 2022 2:19 pm

Did Model T open cars come with top bow clamps from the factory or were they Ford accessories or after market. I Have one extra that I found going through some T parts that I’m thinning down. My 21 Touring has some that came with it when I found the car in a pasture years ago.
Any information would be appreciated. I don’t think they are being reproduced and don’t see them on the parts sites.

There were several accessory manufacturers but I believe some Canadian production cars had them. I have a restored set waiting for me to swap out our "14 Touring saddles.

Canadian T's had the clamps as factory, but USA didn't.

The USA clamps are aftermarket, in fact, the Canadian is an aftermarket item, that the factory obtained and used as std. equipment.

Thanks for the replies! Here is a pic of the one that I have in open position. Looking at T open cars in the old photos that get posted on the forum it seems about half had them and the rest didn’t. The restored T’s are about the same way. As stated the 21 Touring I restored had them on it.

I’m going to list the one I have in the classifieds and maybe someone has another one to make a set for their car.
