1927 Coupe

I would like to get the following vertical measurements on the header above the windshield on a 1927 coupe; that is, from the bottom of the header to the bottom of the headliner (see attached photos).

Locations:
At both ends of the header and at the center. Also, if possible, the vertical distance from the bottom of the header to the center of the bottom holes for the mirror.

I would like these measurements from more than one coupe.

In addition to the measurements, I would like a photo to see if there is the round chord trim between the header the headliner like in the attached two photos.

I would also like a photo of the area above the top of the door, to see if there is a piece if windlace. In the second photo, you can see a black piece of windlace between the fabric and the metal.

Hi Bruce. Sorry I have not been able to provide you with the measurement you seek. You may be wondering why. I went out to my 26 coupe with my camera and tape measure to take a measurement, but it is upholstetered and very difficult to take a correct measurement and a wrong measurement is worse than no measurement. I measured my 1927 Coupe and took some pictures. Looks like about 5.75 inches from the top to the steel edge at the bottom on the side and about 6.1 inches from the top in the middle of the window. Hopefully this helps.

At the top of mine where the vertical panel meets the ceiling, it has a slight curved crown.
The vertical panel is 43 1/4” long. At each end it is 5” high and at the center at the mirror bracket, it is 5 1/2” high. The 1 1/8” wide x 43 1/4” long upholstery strip below the panel appears to be connected to the top of the windshield and is not included in the panel height measurements. If you want to include it with the panel height measurements just add 1 1/8” to the 5” and 5 1/2” measurements. Mine has no cord at the top, but only because no cord came with my “Carter’s Cut & Cover” upholstery kit in 1972. I wish it had. I like the look of the cord. Jim Patrick

PS. I don’t think the measurements vary between different cars of same styles. If you order a 1926-‘27 coupe upholstery kit from Classtique, the panels will all be the same size with no variation. That was The whole idea behind the success of the assembly line. All the parts of the same styles were interchangeable.

Hi. This can be a tricky part on restorations because it varies a bit on that car. The hight in the center can be between 5" to 6.5". Most are around 5 3/8". I leave extra material on my panels to accommodate for variances like this. I have come across 2 Coupes that had Tudor headers that were 1/2" larger at the bottom. The panel gets 5/8" narrower on the ends before the cut out on the top of the ends. The 2 lower mirror holes start 1/4" to 3/4" up from the bottom. The center hole is 3/4" higher than the other 2 holes. The piping that separates the upper panels from the headliner is only supposed to go on the sides and rear of the car. It does NOT go above the header on 26 and 27 Coupes. It is supposed to be out of the same wool broadcloth that the headliner and upper panels are made out. It is supposed to have a brown paper core. 26 & 27 Coupes had Black Model T Grain Leatherette windlace in the front and rear of the door. They were both different sizes.There are upper rail panels that go above the doors that have fabric on both sides. I have posted a picture for you. Also, the fabric in that car is supposed to be grey.

The measurement from the center of the bottom screw hole on the mirror to the bottom of the steel edge is 1.75 inches on my 1927 coupe.
