Silicon Bronze Main Caps and Babbitt

Post by got10carz » Sun Nov 13, 2022 8:06 pm

I have silicon bronze caps to install A crank in T block. Can't seem to be able to flux the caps to accept babbit. Tried different temperatures and flux. Any ideas.

1 flux was Eastwood. Using the babbit to tin. I'm not getting the shiney finish that a tinned steel cap gives you.
Babbit is not sticking to surface

I'll assume you're getting things as clean as possible, but perhaps are burning the flux?

Might try these guys for flux made especially for babbit: https://superiorflux.com/products/indus ... bitt-flux/
