Re: Cast Brass Ford Fan

Looks like a propeller for a Ford Trimotor to me. 3 motors so 3 blades on each prop obviously.

I bet yours is an early prototype that Henry, Orville and Wilber tested. And see there were 3 of them developing it as well.

Thanks for sharing!

Look close at where the 4th blade would be, and I'll bet it's missing. That blade is not in balance as it is shown here and would not spin without vibration.

Well, with some of the posts I've seen lately it's hard to tell if they are joking or not...but you got me on that one.

That's no joke. That is a super rare, one year only, dynamic counterbalance fan designed to cancel engine vibration. It worked perfectly, giving faster accelleration and higher top speeds while eliminating all vibration, doubling gas mileage, and reducing oil consumption. But when Henry Ford found out about it, he howled that it was a fancy frill that cost too much, and he fired the staff engineer that developed it, and made Edsel sleep in the woodshed for a year afterward.

The Knights Templar were behind it, you can be sure of that.

Isn't it simply a 'winter' fan designed to reduce cooling by 25% whilst providing vibratory enhancement of dynamic traction on snow and ice? Nothing sinister in that. jb
