Dog leg intake questions.
I had this intake on my 1911 open torpedo which was built about 3rd week in Oct. I have known this car since 1982., now I own it this intake has always been on it. Is this correct? And this intake has no part number on it but does not look like the reproductions I have seen. the casting is smoother then any of the repros. Any info would be appreciated.

Re: Dog leg intake questions.
Go to the classifieds section; on Jan. 9 I posted 3 pictures of an 11-12 intake manifold that I sold. I believe its correct based upon comparisons to the Judging Guidelines and Gail Roddas' book. Roddas' book also shows an aluminum dog leg intake used in 09-early 11.

From the encyclopedia
MANIFOLDS
1909-1911
Intake manifold was “dog-legged” aluminum. Exhaust pipe fitted into the exhaust manifold and had asbestos packing, secured with usual nut.
1911-1913
Intake manifold changed to straighter aluminum type. Exhaust manifold was the same as 1910 type.

The past is a great place and I don't want to erase it or to regret it, but I don't want to be its prisoner either.

Re: Dog leg intake questions.
rickd I saw yours that you had for sale. I have Gails books. I also was reading that the dog leg was kept around for use in the rhd cars also was used on all torpedos in 1911. just trying to find an answer, I'm sure there was some cross over and use it till it's gone.
