Closed car Carpet

Hey I am not finding front carpet for the closed cars. The vendors have the rubber mats for the open cars but no carpet mats. Do you just find some carpet and cut your own or does someone offer the carpet.

Any reason why they say the rubber mats will not fit the closed cars?

Yes, cut your own.

The front seats sits differently in the closed cars as in the open cars.

I was thinking it would be a cut your own thing. Any carpet supplier you would use?

If you want to make your own, you might think about having the edges bound so they look better.

Bill Hirsch Auto was always good source for wool carpet for antique cars but I don't see much on their website but it would be worth making an inquiry. My father bought black wool carpet from Hirsch for his Waverley Electric but that was at least ten years ago. He bought the carpet binding locally.

Classtique also carried wool carpet but I don't see it advertised in the yard goods section of the website.

For my 27 Tudor, I trimmed up a Touring front rubber mat, cut slots for the seat legs, etc. For the rear I made one from a universal carpet found at a local auto parts store and added some button snaps to keep it in place.

I may have to trim up a Touring front rubber mat for my 24 Coupe. Classtique does offer the correct wool carpet but $350 is a little high in my opinion for a floor mat.

Hi Ron,

After you move the gas tank and the seat riser rearward,
to give you more legroom, it is likely that the rubber floor mat (touring and runabout) will not be long enough to reach the seat riser.
You will probably need a custom made floor mat. After all of the time, effort, and expense to reconstruct the interior of the car, a proper carpeted floor mat matching the carpet on the seat riser would go a long way towards making your work look "factory."

I should add that the upholstery kits for the enclosed cars includes the floor mat(s). They usually are not offered separately.
