I’m in the process of cleaning up my Ford HCCT. The manual says you can leave out the inducter and since mine looks pretty well mangled I decided to go ahead and leave it out. I read the diagram as this leaves the coil ground through the meter. That’s how I wired it, the coil fires but no reading on the meter. Did I miss something? I tried 2 different Weston meters, one of which was rebuilt by Bob C and purchased at an MTFCI tour in Kanab.

Re: Wiring HCCT
A common source of HCCT problems is a poor ground circuit.
Make sure the following items are connected to ground (the HCCT frame).
1. Mag coil ring to HCCT frame.
2. Meter to HCCT frame
Below is a Ford HCCT Diagram with the inductor omited.
Feel free to contact me if there are any concerns about the meter.

Re: Wiring HCCT
The only way to get sparks from your coil is to ground the meter on one side by the frame (as shown in Bob's diagram) and the other side ground the meter terminal with the wire.

Re: Wiring HCCT
Turns out that although I had wired it properly the washer for the ground contact screw was hitting the frame. So the coil was always grounded taking the meter out of the circuit. Works fine now. Thanks for the advice Bob.
