23 touring floorboard risers

This is a new wood kit. Does this mark have anything to do with the placement of the risers?

Don, that's a darn good question!

Though the location is pretty limited to a narrow band, I followed what the original did and let the lower/forward edge of the metal go flush with the front edge of the wood:
