Old Photos - My 1919 Racer History
My Mom visited this past weekend and brought me some photos she found while doing some spring cleaning. These are from 1954/55 when my Dad was 15/16 years old. The T is a 1919 that was originally a Touring. It was bought used outside Philly in 1927 and my grandfather and a friend turned it into a racer. He drove it until he got married and moved to Sidney, NY in 1933 when it was put in a chicken coop for storage. In 1954, they trailered it to Sidney, NY and started to restore it. The driver in the fourth photo (in front of the Texaco station) is my grandfather, Don Barker. The driver in the first and fifth photos is my Dad, John Barker (also seen working on the engine in the second photo, and in the passenger seat in the fourth photo).

Two additional pics; first, the car in 1977 in our driveway in Binghamton, NY. I'm on the left (with the crutches as I had a broken leg). I was 13 years old. The next one is the car as she looks now.

Wow! How cool is your story. That is just awesome. Love the first picture of it on the utility trailer. That’s definitely a keeper.

Is the car still in Binghamton? Would like to check it out!

Tom - Thanks! I agree, I'm lucky to have these photos. Wish I had some from when my grandfather first had it in the late 20s.
Tim - I still have family in Binghamton, but I'm actually in Fairport, NY (suburb of Rochester) with the T safely in my garage!
If you ever get up in the area, let me know! Be happy to have some "T brotherhood" time!
