Back on the road!
I had a busy winter working on the 22 runabout PU. I moved the body back 3/4 of an inch to the correct location, put new bearings in the front end, new seals an outer bearings in the rear end, along with rebuilding the parking brakes, made brake/running light mounts and installed the lights and brake light switch, installed the engine pans and carb heater, installed a battery horn, installed 5-1 steering guts and rebushed the lower steering bracket, installed Apco steering ends, a new steering arm, and tie rod ball, made a mount for my klaxon horn that goes on the spare tire mount, installed an exhaust whistle and cutout, rebuilt the wheels with matching Kelsey removable clip felloes and rims, installed a speedo drive gear, ordered 2 new tires to make a matching set (in transit), installed a sliding adjuster on my Rocky Mountain brakes, made a fat lady brace, made a new starter cable, repaired the battery bracket, painted the head and exhaust manifold, replaced the freeze plugs, replaced the pins in the hood, made new floorboards and a panel under the seat, installed a steering column brace, and bought all the parts to install a speedometer. The cable and a new head are on order and will go on when they come in.
And today, I drove it for the first time this year. It feels really great. No wheels clicking, no death wobble. Fingers crossed, it should be a good driver. It does need a wash though!

“All around Alaska” is a tall order. We don’t have many roads, but the ones we have are long and in some cases, pretty rough. Right now I am working on all around Anchorage! After you do this many things, it’s best to shake it down some.

Thanks, I am hoping this means I can get back to work on my 26 speedster. My wife, on the other hand hopes this means I will start work on a new dining table and some bookshelves.

Bethel and Magrath are a bit off the beaten track (no road access) but I have been to both. There is a guy in Rainy Pass that has a T with the snow machine setup and there was one in Barrow in the teens that had one. Ts we’re big up her back in the day. Joe Spenard had a T here in Anchorage in the 20s and ran a taxi service. He also had a resort not far from my house. If I ever get a touring I am going to paint it like his car. They used Ts to run people from Valdez to Fairbanks on the Richardson highway.
As for my free time over the winter, I tried to keep up with my 9 year old. I can’t wait to get to work on the 26. Lots of cool speed parts on the shelf.

Big milestone to get it on the road for the first time, congratulations. When you fold the top down, you take the front bow out of the upper clip and hook it into the lower clip so the bows are all the same length.

Thanks, I will look at that for the top.
To be clear, the car ran last year but had a long punch list of things that had to be addressed to be a safe driver. It’s not a show car by any means and there are some other things to address, but it’s not trying to kill me anymore.
