Which TT Parts Should Be Salvaged?

I will be acquiring a significant collection of parts including TT Ruckstells and standard rear ends, drive shaft, springs, radius rods. Which parts should not be scrapped? I do not have a TT.

Depends on the condition of the parts. TT Ruckstells will sell because no one makes parts for them like the passenger cars. All of those parts would sell. When you receive them, post pictures. Someone may need them.

Keep the hyatt bearings. They are much scarcer than car bearings.

I couldn't even give a tt ruckstel away but open each up and keep the good bearings/ races if they have 5/1 gear sets brake parts shoes and levers
I keep the smalls like I said offer rest at scrap price and soon youl know what to keep

High speed ring and worm gears are the only TT parts that bring money. Six teeth on the worm gear is good. Four teeth? Scrap metal.

Must be nice out there on west coast not needing TT parts! Brake shoes,bearings, heck even a decent housing that aint pitted all to heck is agood thing.
I have about 6 or 7 extra rear ends laying around, 1 driveshaft tube and no extra driveshaft,if I ever build my C cab, I will be going thru all of them to get the best parts to build 1. And of course,none have the brake shoes.

Well, they don't make them any more and it seems like a lot of T collectors have already scrapped a lot.
Does your local club have a 'Parts Shed' maybe for those you don't want to keep?

They were mentioned above, but I'll mention them again -- brake shoes. They seem to be scarce as hen's teeth.

I think we could cast some hens teeth and grind them to fit much easier than trying to find 1 TT brake shoe. of all things reproduced,no one is making them.
And sadly,it seems what repro parts are or were being made,the equipment and designs are bought up and took away from the market for whatever reason. :roll:

Isn't there a truck part that connects the drive shaft to the gearing that is made of unobtanium?

In my opinion, if the TT rearend part is good (IN SPECIFICATIONS), they should all be saved. I am trying to save as many as possible, especially the Ruckstell TT rearend pieces. My goal in the future is to rebuild them and have them for sale. Also to keep parts on hand for future generations to buy. My problem is that most rearends are too far away too make it cost effective. I have been buying parts here and there IF THEY ARE IN SPECIFACATIONS and make since to buy. I DO HAVE SOME PARTS FOR SALE NOW. JUST CONTACT ME.

Been trying giveaway TT parts and black era parts for over a year sadly Sent most to scrap all big heavy ship
