You cant Tow a model T?
I heard you cant tow a T. is this true? and why? Cant you put the Lever in the middle position? I would think theres no Parking brake on and the drive train would not be connected to either transmission.

Re: You cant Tow a model T?
Hi Bill,
Yes, you are partly correct, you can tow a T a VERY SHORT distance slowly, but you can't tow a model T any long distance.
There are several threads here on the forum explaining in more detail but the essence of it is that the transmission will always turn, even in neutral, and it will destroy itself without the lubrication it normally gets when the engine is running.
It is also possible to tow by removing the spark plugs (to remove pressure), putting the car in high gear so the engine turns and lubricates all - but this is not recommended for long distance and certainly not at 'trailer towing' speeds.
Have a quick 'search' of towing a T on the forum here for more details, this one has a lot of information viewtopic.php?f=2&t=37242
Cheers
