Looking for Winfield Carburetor information
I am looking for information on this up draft carburetor that came on a model T speedster.
It's a Winfield Updraft with a 1 5/8 bore.

It is a Model V Updraft. Should have the size stamped on the side.

Re: Looking for Winfield Carburetor information
Looks to be in relatively good shape. A couple things I notice are that the flange should have threads (5/16-18 I think) and the fuel inlet has the tube soldered in. Not problems that would stop me from trying to run it tho. The bigger issue with these barrel valve carbs is air leakage at idle. Leaks from the throttle shaft bushings and also from excessive barrel to bore clearance caused by both wear and/or distortion. The flanges are often warped and need surfacing. It’s pretty clear that someone has tried to seal up the throttle shaft bores with the rubber washers.
I once made a new oversize barrel and bored the housing to match on a 4V. It went from idling crappy to idling awesome! I miss that good runnin ol car…
