Re: Shipping?
The shipping cost on the model T’s to the Europe tour has more than doubled in the last two years
to $ 10,000.00 per car and they are threatening a nother 20% increase for next year.
The cost for everything will also increase considerably next year, including freight.
It would be cheaper to drive your shipment to whereabouts and make a nice vacation out of the trip. There is no winning at this time. Frank

Re: Shipping?
Hi Chad,
Yes more info is needed. But all things being the same I lost out on a sale because someone knows how to ship for 30% of what I can. So if
anyone has a trick up their sleeve many of us would like to know what it is.
Craig.

Re: Shipping?
Can't say how they did for 30% less but USPS has some new shipping methods & discounts if you use their new Click&Ship to print the label or opt to have it printed at the post office.Craig Leach wrote: ↑Sun Nov 19, 2023 1:37 pmHi Chad,

In the past they had FREE boxes for you to order & shipped to you for FREE.
https://store.usps.com/store/results/fr ... lsrc=aw.ds
The boxes cam in different sizes & 3 different ways postage was calculated for Priority Mail. Priority mail Flat Rate boxes shipped for a price with a weight limit of up to 70lbs; 2 Regional boxes based weight limits 15 or 20lbs based on distance (these were great).; they also have Priority Mail "Mailing Boxes:" shipping is based on box size, weight & distance. While Priority Mail Flat Rate boxes can not be cut up to fit the item(s), the "Priority Mailing Boxes can be "Frankensized" cut up to reduce the size or two taped together to fit.
NOW!
Several FAST shipping options with calculations based on weight & package size. Shipping Zones are basically a distance calculation based on one area to another. So Shipments covering shorter distances will experience the most significant price shifts. Specifically, Ground Advantage™ packages weighing 1-2 lbs traveling to Zones 1-5 could see a substantial price drop ranging from 10-18%.
While the shipping boxes are "free" they can only be used for USPS mailings - not for storing parts on your shelves. Also you can not use one of their boxes or envelops (padded) inside another. If caught you get charged the postage for each of them too.
Here is some info
Ground Advantage Service Details (similar to the old regional boxes but you eed to provide the box)
Free Insurance up to $100 (does not cover the mailing cost - just the value you say the contents are worth when creating the label

Packages are delivered in 2–5 business days
Packages greater than 15.999 oz are charged by the pound up to 70 lbs
Tracking is included
Free package pickup service at your home or office
Also the best & least expensive cardboard boxes, if you have to buy one, smaller ones at Staples, larger at Home Improvement stores.
It may also pays to split up the order into 2 or more packages. Shipping 4 wire wheels, 2 packages of 2 via USPS, is cheaper than shipping 4 on a flat pallet via any shipper.
The past is a great place and I don't want to erase it or to regret it, but I don't want to be its prisoner either.

Re: Shipping?
Whatever it is in the 3” dia box and weighing 107 lbs it won’t be cheap. And if it’s heavy the buyer will get a banged up and rough looking box. I hope it’s not a fragile item. You had better pack the ends with foam chunks or etc. Good luck.

Re: Shipping?
Might try shipping through your local FASTENAL store. They ship stuff everywhere, and used to accept misc stuff to ship, would put it on a pallet and load it on one of their trucks. Took time, because they moved it at their convenience, but it would eventually get there. They tried never to move a truck with a partial load. If there was room for extra pallets, the item went on the truck. Your load might be accompanied by 10 other loads from 10 other shippers, along with a half a truck of FASTENAL product.
Never could figure out why more shipping companies didn't do that. You are moving a truck. Why not take misc stuff along, charge for it, and pay for some (OR MOST) of the fuel. An empty inch of space on a semi is an extra inch of money you didn't get!

Re: Shipping?
Fastenal did not ship west of the Mississippi during Covid, now they won’t ship at all. That’s what they told me six months ago when I wanted to ship something.

Re: Shipping?
Thats going to be an LTL shipment. Go to Freight Quote.com and set up a shipment with terminal delivery and pickup at both ends. you will need to strap it to a pallet. The website will return multiple options and shipment times. You will need the freight class- contact them and they will provide that for you.

Re: Shipping?
Try Greyhound. If greyhound has a terminal in your area, their rates were really cheap. You have to pick the shipment at the terminal.
