Approx. 9 1/2 - 9 3/4 gallons.

Anymore than that it may over spill when using a gas pump nozzle. And place nozzle away from the baffle side or you will get some splash back if the pump is fast flowing

The earlier tank designs capacity.

It's best not to try to top off the tank, since it will pick up some heat going down the road, especially in hot weather. Under some conditions, the expansion of the gasoline could be greater than the engine's consumption and cause an overflow.
Likewise, topping the tank off with cool gasoline in hot weather, then parking the car, can cause an overflow.
The same is true of Ford pickup trucks from the 1940s through 1972 that have the gas tank in the cab.

9.75 gallons, and if you fill your tank that far, you'll have a gasoliney mess...

Get one of the tank dip sticks... run your car at 9 gallons...

I fill mine to 8.5 to 9 gallons, except for winter layup.
At this time, I fill it to near the top and add stabilizer.

I used to drain the tank, but worried about condensation.
I understand that stabilizer prolongs the life of gasoline.

Until recently I used alcohol free gas (marine gas) which is really available in. my area. Its price went from a premium of 50 cents per gallon to $1.50 per gallon, which is too rich for my blood.

Art, you have it made. Standard 91 octane petrol here is around $2 per litre.

I’m just guessing but aren’t all Model T gas tanks around 8-9 gallons for an average? An overall average? Maybe if it was in the 9 gallon range it was because in the T era people just didn’t drive as far and it was thought that was an adequate amount for the times. Food for thought!
