1910 Ford Model T conquers Mount Shasta... well kind of...

Post by ModelTMitch » Tue Dec 26, 2023 12:07 am

A slightly different post today...

You may have seen an earlier video I published, originally filmed in 1911, showing a 1910 Ford Model T conquering Ben Nevis in Scotland.
(Watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jaNgYhvmtzA )

Using a beautifully detailed modification to the well known computer game Grand Theft Auto V, in the form of a 1910 Ford Model T touring car, I've attempted to recreate this epic mountain climb (albeit on a computer and with the absence of snow!!).

Mount Chiliad in the game is based on Mount Shasta in California. The only thing really wrong with the in-game Model T is the ridiculously high top-speed, and the decidedly V8 sounding engine!!

Check out the video :-)

A fun video, I would play a video game like that, having driven roads like that.

A couple sections of that video game, the rolling backwards downhill, if I was the character, you would have to edit and say,"our intrepid hero must go off camera to change pants!" And to think the real trip was rather dangerous to.
I haven't done much related to video games since I got laid off from my job working on them back in 1990. BIG changes since then!
If you can't help em, don't hinder em'

How did they keep it from stalling out from gas starvation? They had to climb hills in reverse back in the day because the gravity-flow fuel tank was in the wrong place.

Computer games have come a long way since 1990!
But even the user-created mod that is this Model T, has its limitations and flaws, such as the V8 sounding engine, what appears to be 200hp instead of 20hp! 🤣😂
That said, the Model T could and still can go more places that most wouldn't DARE go in a modern 4WD!
