T valve lifters???

Post by Dan Hatch » Thu Dec 07, 2023 5:58 am

Was someone on here looking for lifters saying no one had them and didn’t know when they were coming in?
Guy on eBay has them.

I believe you are thinking of Luxford who was looking for .015"-over solid lifters for an open valve engine. It seems that he found some.

I am looking for standard-size adjustable lifters. I don't need them just yet, but Dave at Chaffin's said there is a shortage of those. It seems that we have to wait for the company that makes Harley Davidson lifters to make a run of Model T.

An update for anyone interested.
A set of original non adjustable lifters arrived today here in Australia. After placing an ad in the forum ads section I received several replies, especially one from Jim Riedy who offered me a set he had. He ended up sending them to a friend of mine in Colorado who had a new set of adjustable lifters (they needed to be .015 oversize).
Jim posted his without any mention of cost or postage to Colorado and when contacted about his generosity has failed to reply to me. Jim I thank you so much and we will use them unless something which is extremely a problem prevents this. If Jim doesn't seen this will anyone who knows him pass on my thanks but I would still like to reward his for his generosity. Jim email me!!!!
I now also have a new set of new adjustable lifters and as they appear to be a disappearing commodity will be easily passed on to someone who needs them in the future.
So all is not lost, the open valve motor gets it's lifters for Christmas, what looked like a crisis has turned out to be a great result.

Peter,
I am a close friend of Jim Riedy. He is a great guy and is a valuable member of the model t hobby. I will let him know about your appreciation, even though he most likely saw yoir posting. He reads the forum nearly every day.

Yep, that's the kind of guy Jim is. Luckily we have several in our club like him who are okay to "give and not receive". Joe Bell is another one.
