Tripple gears
Does anyone out there in model T land k ow approximately what year ford changed to the solid gears from the riveted tripple gears???

According to the Model T Ford encyclopedia which is available on the MTFCA website it was approximately around 1917 when the one piece started to be used and the older 3 piece were still used at the same time. I’m guessing Ford used the old style until they ran out. He wasn’t one for waste according to history.
The enclopedia also calls the gear a planet gear besides what everybody usually says it a triple gear. First time I noticed that reading the encyclopedia.

The change date surprises me. Over the years I have found many more 3 piece riveted gears than one piece ones. Given that the majority of production was in the 20's, I would have put the introduction of one piece gears much later than 1917. Is there a discrepancy with the introduction of one piece gears in Canadian production?
It is easier to find good three piece gears than to find good one piece ones. Because of the reduced width on the teeth of the one piece gears, the load was more concentrated on the narrower teeth, and they wear more as a consequence. I can understand that they might be cheaper to make, but consider their adoption a retrograde step.
