A look into the past

So one of the photos that I have for reference for my delivery car is this one with some guys standing next to a Ford delivery car with the rear doors open. The name E. Lauer & Sons is visible on the side of the car. If you look closely there is the wording Alturas on the bag that is setting on the road. I did a google search for E. Lauer & Sons and found the building located in Alturas CA. Mr. Lauer owned ranches on which he grew grains, such as wheat and alfalfa. In 1879, he built a flour mill, where he ground his own wheat and sold it as “Lauer’s Best Flour" which is somewhat visible on the bag on the ground. I've driven past that building many, many times. The front of it has a shingled mansard-style canopy thing, probably glued on in the 1970s.

Awesome pics Mike. They sure knew how to build a building back then. Look how it stood the test of time as well as the great architecture. Gorgeous building. Today's buildings are lucky to last 50-70 years.

I love the old architecture from the early days. There was so much attention to detail and they made it look awesome!

I've been by the building many times on Flourenoy tours, and didn't even notice it!

It's on the left when you're coming into town, Larry. The old hotel is on the other side of the street down the block.

I should have been more specific, when coming into town from the south end, as if you're coming from Likely.
