What in the world is the apparatus on the front of the first Model T shown? There is another photo of a similar framework on another T in the series of photos.

Looks like one of them big super-duper fender supporters that also became a crank holder and third headlamp along the way...

Re: Can I give you a lift?
The gal in photo #1 has an inviting, "come hither" look not seen in old photos much. Odd for someone so worried about front end damage.

Whats up with the top bow in the 12th picture?

Picture #9, of the Red Cross '16, shows the woman enlisted knows how to safely crank the Ford, left handed

Yes, that was a popular fender brace and radiator guard, made in the mid west.John Codman wrote: ↑Wed Apr 10, 2024 12:35 pmWhat in the world is the apparatus on the front of the first Model T shown? There is another photo of a similar framework on another T in the series of photos.
But really like the added 'ditch lamp', usually found on the windshield post, but here mounted on that brace.
Plus, the neat cloth strap to hold up the crank handle out of the mud.

Photo 10, of the Ford fording......really a big splash.
Plus, I guess decals on the windshield to proudly display mfg. name, seen today. But done much earlier.
That big Winged Pyramid Ford on the windscreen!

Yup she's one hot flapper. If I recall correctly, the old whole expression in my neck of the woods was "come hither" "and yawn."

Re: Can I give you a lift?
A different picture of that gal and her fender brace equipped touring was posted a while back.
I'm traditionally an Early V8 person, but T people and T tours are too much fun to miss out on.

Re: Can I give you a lift?
Sure looks like the same girl and likely the same car! But there are a few curious differences. The previous photo car has an after-market visor at the top of the windshield, and no spot light on the fender braces. This one does not have the visor, just the top windshield glass swung way forward. While the current post has the spot light on the fender braces. The headlamp lenses on the current thread appear to be standard Ford "H" lenses, correct for a 1924/'25 touring car. While the previous thread headlamps appear to have plain clear lenses (which would not be correct for the car??). Perhaps it is a trick of the lighting?
Fender brace, accessory steering wheel (not a fatman), Texas radiator license tag, all appear to be the same. So most likely the same car and flapper.

Neat! Any additional photos of the same car?
