correct 25 touring rear window

Hi all,
Just wondering what would be the correct rear window for a Dec. 24 Touring. A two panel or a one panel. Does anybody know when Ford switched from the two panel to the one panel?

I’m gonna jump out on a limb and say the 2 lite style due to the verbiage in this ad: Bottom ad for Peer O Lites “and in 2 lite style for 1923 and later.” Of course we know the long horizontal 1 lite style was used for ‘New and Improved’

I'm just wondering about several 25's with the single window. Also I saw a vintage ad with a single. Anyone know the changeover date?

I'm pretty certain 1925 had 2 rear windows. Period ads to the contrary were most likely for aftermarket versions. For instance, my '25 Touring has one window. It's a glass window in an aftermarket metal frame and not correct.

Our 25 touring has a single square window in back. Im not sure if that's the original style or not. It was built to be a driver.

I think Henry Ford announced component changes thru printed ‘Ascessions’. The OP listed his touring as a December ‘24 so that would, indeed, make it a ‘25 model. Austin, is your ‘25 rear window of the isinglass or metal frame with glass variety like Jerry’s ? What we really need is a Forum Friend up there in Dearborn to find that printed change in the archives to answer the original question.

I have tried to find the same information. The encyclopedia says single window for "later 1925" but no approximate estimation on when the change occurred. Is "later" the last half of the year, or the last month?

I assume mine should be single window with its May 25th 1925 engine assembly date.

I've been on the fence about this question. My engine is a December 24 date. So definitely not a late 25. It's 4 months in to the 25 model year; and 8 months away from the end of the 25 model year. So I think I'll go with the two windows. Anyone know of a reason NOT to go this way? Thanks. I think I saw la 1925 Ford ad showing a single rear window, but I think it might have been for the late 25. Who knows?

I think you’re correct in your assessment John. Indeed, I believe the single isinglass window was introduced in 1925 well within the 1926 program year.

I restored a July 1, 1925 Touring over the last few years and did a fair amount of research on 1925 cars to try to keep my car original. I never came across a specific start date for the 1925 single rear window but did read about many changes that happened during that April into July 1925 time frame.
I also found Larry Smiths' article on the 1925 Pickup very helpful as he outlines a lot of the changes that happened in late 1925 during the release of the 1925 pickup. In that article Larry comments about the single larger window probably better accommodated the new rear view mirror.

An interesting change I found in the 1925 Documentation Section of the Encyclopedia was that on April 6, 1925 the New York Branch announced that they were prepared to supply Nickel plated radiator shells, nickel radiator aprons and nickel head lamp doors for 1925 cars through their service stock.

Imho, I would be comfortable calling an April to the end of July a late 1925 car for the purpose of having a single rear window.
