Brand New cast zinc Starter & Generator brush holders

Post by AdminJeff » Thu Jun 06, 2024 10:25 pm

Well, my patience and perseverance and attention to spec'ing every little detail finally paid off. These new brush holder samples cast out of zinc arrived today and they're perfect. I've been working on this project since January. I'm actually shocked at just how well they work. No filing, tweaking, etc. They just work! Predrilled, pre-tapped, ready to use. No more stripped screw holes or drilling & tapping!

I'm thinking of putting a complete repair kit together - 2 new brush holders, 4 new backing plates, 4 screws, even a little 1ml vile of Loctite blue. If I can get the springs made (working on that now), 2 of those as well.

Beautiful work, Jeff!!!
Much appreciated!
I built my first complete starter with them yesterday. It was absolutely perfect.

I did discover that there are a couple different brush spring profiles floating out there. Some fit, others don't. A little adjustment to the diameter of the spring post by grinding/filing fixes that and doesn't compromise post strength.
I'm having both the springs & backing plates made now so this should be a non-issue. They were also able to add my logo after the fact, so that's kinda cool!
