Tag on brass radiator

Post by dykker5502 » Tue Jun 18, 2024 5:29 pm

Hi,

I have this tag soldered to the back of the upper tank of my 1914 brass radiator:

Do Brassworks put a tag like this on their reproduction radiators or do I have an original Ford radiator?

The number stamped - was that supposed to be same number as the VIN/Engine number?

My brassworks has one soldered on and the number has nothing to do with a vin/engine #

But does that tag look the same (with Ford Motor Co.?) or for example "Brassworks"?

A few years ago RV Anderson (RIP) was reproducing the tags for the radiators and would stamp them for you. RV was a stickler for details. I had a repo brassworks radiator that had the generic tag soldered on it and I removed it and put one of RVs tags on it. If I’m not mistaken there was a difference between earlier radiator tags and later ones. The tags RV made would have been for the earlier style up to 14?

The tags initially posted were all I've ever seen in the past, but, neither have I seen many 1914 or earlier cars in my life.
My March '14 build T has the other variant:

Here is soldered on tag on an early '12 radiator ( no Made in USA under the script).

In later '12 the holes were added to the sides for gas hose. And sometime in 1914 the tag was eliminated and the Ford info was embossed stamped in the tank.

It has been stated on the past the the number on the tag is not the engine number.
