Upcoming Lake Erie Island tour
For those in or near north central and north west Ohio..and even beyond...its time to announce our upcoming tour to S. Bass Island, Ohio tour, otherwise known as Put in Bay. This year it is Sunday July 7th. I think last year we made the 10 a.m. boat, more on that in coming weeks.
Last year we had a great turnout, a great time, filled a ferry to capacity and expect more so the boat line would like to have as much of an accurate headcount as possible a week before the trip.
Four clubs will be involved..they are the Firelands Timeless T's; Maumee Valley Model T club; NW model T club; and Northcoast Bumps n Grinds. Please let Joe Bell know or me via PM (prefer the email link) on this forum so we can let the boat line know. I told them last week they may very well need two boats this year! Anyone not in the aforementioned clubs are welcome to join in. We just need a headcount and of course how many cars.
For anyone who didn't make it last year here's a few pics of it to get your juices flowing!
See you Sunday July 7th at Miller Boat line dock on Catawba Island Ohio!

Re: Upcoming Lake Erie Island tour
The majority of us, if not all, parked them at the WalMart lot, on their far west side, off of S.R. 163 I think it is.
Miller Ferry does have a lot of parking lots, and usually lot #5 has ample room for truck/trailer parking and I think (don't quote me) there's no charge for it. But it's a nice 15 minute drive up Rte. 53 from WalMart to the Miller Dock, so just park it there!

The photos remind me of the Catalina Island tours the MTFCA held many years ago. I went on two of those. Among the best tours I ever went on!
Walmart doesn't mind trucks and trailers taking over their lot? How many days is the tour?

Hey Wayne!
Yeh I hear Catalina is really nice. I'd love the boat ride too!
WalMart was more than accommodating to us.
It's a huge lot so we park way over where no man dares to walk so far to the store! Ha ha.
It's just a one day tour. We're usually in a 4:30 or 5 PM boat to ensure a place ON a boat! Busy popular island in the weekends.
Thanks for asking

I didn't know that Lake Erie had Islands! I used to fly my light airplane from the Boston area to Cleveland, but never flew over the southwest corner of the lake.

Oh yeh John! Something like 14 or 18 if you count all the itty bitty ones that you can't land on. Western lake erie is great for boating, sailing, fishing, etc and island hopping.John Codman wrote: ↑Fri Jun 07, 2024 1:27 pmI didn't know that Lake Erie had Islands! Re: Upcoming Lake Erie Island tour
Tim, thanks for posting a notice for this tour! Karen and I flew into Put-in Bay a few years back and have been looking forward to a good excuse to take our T over there ever since we've had it. I sent you an email stating our intention to attend.

I've flown into Put in Bay a number of times in years past but never taken the ferry. By any chance do you have an itinerary for what you'll do once on the island?

Re: Upcoming Lake Erie Island tour
Tim, Last year we parked in the park out front of all the bars, others got to tour the island they had never seen, 1:00 is the Sunday car parade they tour the island and treat you very well before and after the tour, was an old tradition at Heinemens Winery is the 4 o'clock club where all the T's would gather for a quick drink or fellowship. Walmart parking lot is for the rigs and a five mile trip to the ferry, need to be in line by 9:30 for 10 boat going across and we need a head count before June 27 to see if we will need two boats!
