26-27 top installation help!

Post by fordt » Thu Jul 04, 2024 12:03 pm

Just finishing up the top installation and was wondering if anyone had a picture of how the hide em welt finishes up with the top right at the cab bucket armrest? I know it terminates with a buckle tip. Here’s a couple pictures of where my installation sits leading up to that spot before final fastening, trimming and hide em welt. I’ve tapped and screwed in the lift the dot fasteners inside the top iron (yes, I know, they should be push button fasteners and body sockets), and will install the lift the dot plates in the top flap.

Happy 4th! First year I haven’t had a running T for the parade!

Perfect! But I fear my corner top piece is coming a little too far forward of the top iron. This’ll be one of those the next time you do it it’ll be easier and hopefully look better moments!

Correct spacing of the bows to Ford specs is critical for a proper fitting top.

Mine is a touring car, the method of top attachment appears to be pretty much the same, but you probably should use a roadster pickup as your model.
