26 Coupe Rear Left Fender

Post by BarnesvilleT » Wed Jul 31, 2024 10:44 am

Looking for a Rear Left Fender for my 26 Coupe. Had a bit of a mishap and mine got bent up pretty bad.
I placed an ad in the classifieds but no luck so far. It seems they might be a hard item to find.
Has anyone had the experience of buying a reproduction fiberglass one. Found some online.
Any help would be appreciated.

I don’t know about the repo rear fenders but do check for sure if it’s a direct change out with no modifications needed. Just an opinion. Snyder’s has them. I would call directly to them to find out. Others will have opinions.

John, I feel certain that the poster wants an original steel drivers rear fender for his 26 coupe. Snyder's only offers FIBERGLASS rear fenders, as no one, even Rootlieb, makes steel rear fenders. If he can't find a suitable steel rear fender, then a fiberglass fender from snyder's is better than no fender at all.

I've seen reproduction fiberglass T fenders for sale, cracked.
And I have seen fiberglass T fenders on a car cracked.

I learned to fix my own '26 Coupe steel fenders.
If you don't want to do that, consider taking the remains to a body shop. It might be your best option.
Measure the holes on the matching body, photograph them, and photograph the good side from all angles.

A good body man can probably fix your fender. It may be crumpled up but it’s not impossible to get it straightened up. It’s amazing what can be done to a bent up and crumpled fender. If it’s off the car go by an older body shop and show it to them. Once the basic form starts to show it can be repaired. It wouldn’t be any different than the older classic cars to fix. They are close to having the same gauge of metal. Try a shop near you that deals with older cars.

I've heard mixed reviews about those fiberglass reproductions. Some say they fit well and look decent, but others mention issues with alignment and durability. If you can't find an original, a fiberglass one might be a decent temporary fix.

Tom, good find that’s a pretty good deal on the left side rear fender (hat tip to Allen) even if you have to buy the pair for 250.

Best John

Thanks to all for the input. I am contacting the seller in Michigan right now.
He says they are for a Roadster but I am pretty sure the Roadster and the Coupe are the same.
I am also going to try to fix the damaged one.

Bill, Jump on those Michigan fenders. They'll be a lot cheaper that getting yours repaired, plus you'll have a spare passenger side in case you have an accident on that side in the future. If you choose not to keep the right side fender, it looks to be (from the picture) a $500 fender in most markets. Roadster, Coupe, and pickup fenders are exactly the same. 2 and 4 door sedan and touring fenders are the same for that group of body styles.

Tom, you should have probably sent a pm to William regarding those fenders for sale. They were probably gone within minutes of your public post on the forum since lots of people on here are on the lookout for 1926 -‘27 fenders.

It took a minute to find them on the Marketplace but the guy replied right away. He took more photos
and sent them. The right side fender is in great shape but the left side will need a bit of work. Nothing that
some fiberglass and body filler can't fix. Both have the fender brackets still attached.
The check is in the mail to him and he has agreed to somehow pack them for UPS shipping.
He had a very high satisfaction rating on the marketplace so we will see what happens.
