Colin I think Langs sells the lid as a separate item if not mistaken.

Re: reproduction wood coil box lid
I would think the possibility of any other lid fitting would be a long shot. Best you could hope for is it be slightly oversize to modify to fit.
Were I in this situation, I would visit my local cabinet maker & have one made. @ that, the best match would be to remake the body & lid together.

Re: reproduction wood coil box lid
John, wasn’t Ludwig Gocek of Nazareth PA known for making very early wood coil boxes ? Unfortunately he died 4 years ago. Did anybody pick up the torch? I think he made the 2 cyl. Splitdorf coil box for my ‘10 Maxwell.

Re: reproduction wood coil box lid
I agree with John. When i lost the lid off my Heinze box somewhere over the Hay Plains, I borrowed an original lid and accurately duplicated it, only to find my coilbox was almost 1/8" wider than my new lid. A custom made lid is called for.

Re: reproduction wood coil box lid
I would check with John Anderson (RV’s brother) he made all the coil boxes and floor boards.

Re: reproduction wood coil box lid
Unfortunately R.V. Anderson pasted away about a year and a half ago. He was a master at restoring and reproducing early coil boxes and coils. His brother made the boxes for him. His name is John Anderson, lives in Gerry, NY. He shouldn’t be hard to find, maybe he took over R V’s old number. He does exceptional work.

Re: reproduction wood coil box lid
My son’s car has a 1912 Heinze box with a new lid. The reproduction fit the original box perfectly. It was supplied with two loose pieces to glue in and hold the coils in place.
I believe Jonathan Anderson supplied that lid at the time. He also made the bent tack rails for my ‘26 along with my floorboards. He is a true craftsman.

Some of the originals don't fit good if you swap them. Be careful1!
