Rocky Mountain Brake Adjustment

Post by GeorgeHounslow » Sun Jul 21, 2024 4:41 pm

Hi All,

I have found the new Rocky Mountain Brakes I fitted last year on my 1916 Touring car are wearing excessively at the bottom front of the brake band lining but not elsewhere. Can anyone suggest what adjustments I need to make to stop this?

Many Thanks
George

Hi George,
Pictures would help a lot, my RM brakes have a gap where you described you are wearing. I pushed a piece of rubber hose into the pivot slider
(that is probably not the correct term) to push the shoe closer to the drum. That may work placing the hose on the other side of the pivot pin?
Doing this on my brake seemed to improve braking in reverse some & may have the opposite effect on yours? You have to remove the cotter pin
& washer to get the hose in then replace the washer & cotter pin. If you have the bonded lining trying to reshape the band may compromise the
bond of the lining to the band.
